Aurora Tropicals

Having lived most of my life in the neighborhood of the equator, I've never experienced the Aurora Borealis except as photos and videos, but I have always been fascinated by those luminescent serpentine colors illuminating the arctic night sky. My most recent work in hot glass focuses on capturing the essence of the Aurora as free-blown lamps, incorporating the tropical hues that surround us in Hawaii. I'm especially fond of allowing the transparent bands of color to mix and overlap, creating unexpected patterns and textures. Why should the polar regions have all the fun?
